About The Loving Avoidant

The Loving Avoidant began as an Instagram account purely for self-expression for the author after finding a stark lack of resources for avoidant attachers looking to grow. The popular content that is available is often quite flattening, biased, extreme, or over-simplified. Too often it is downright ostracizing and demonizing.

The anonymous author of this content is an avoidant-leaning human and student of psychology on the road to licensure as a therapist.

The content associated with this project openly derives from a mixture of personal experiences, exploratory philosophy and theory, hundreds of casual conversations with people regarding their attachment experiences, extensive and continuous independent research since 2019, and ongoing formal education. While peer-reviewed research is regularly shared (to understand more about the external resources drawn upon for a portion of the content shared under The Loving Avoidant name, see the Sources page), this project does not claim to be purely empirical and is not meant to be used as a scientific academic resource, nor is it meant to advise, counsel, diagnose, or prescribe individuals as the author is not yet a licensed clinician.

My mission is to help those with avoidant attachment patterns feel less alone, less broken, less unilaterally blamed, less doomed, less confused, and more empowered to learn new healthy ways of relating.
